Terms of Service

1. Who you’re agreeing with

Manicured is a manicure journal at hellomanicured.com, operated by Olivia Kelly, a sole proprietor based in Oregon, United States. In these Terms, “Manicured,” “we,” “us,” and “I” all mean the same thing — it’s a one-person product.

By creating an account or using Manicured, you agree to these Terms and to the Community Guidelines, which are part of this agreement. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information.

2. Who can use Manicured

• You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.
• If you are 13 to 17, you may use Manicured only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
• A paid subscription must be purchased by someone 18 or older, or by a parent or guardian who is authorized to make the payment.
• You may not use Manicured if you have previously had an account removed for violating these Terms or the Community Guidelines.

Manicured doesn’t currently ask for your age, so these are commitments you make by using it rather than checks the product performs.

3. Your account

Accounts are created by signing in with Google. That’s the only sign-in method — Manicured never creates, receives, or stores a password for you.

When you first sign in, you choose a handle. Your handle is permanent: it can’t be changed after it’s set, because it’s part of the web address of everything you share. You can change your display name and bio at any time in Settings.

You’re responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping access to your Google account secure. Please don’t impersonate someone else, claim a handle in order to sell it, or use a handle or display name designed to look official.

4. Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you put into Manicured — your photos, titles, captions, notes, polish recipes, and journal entries. Nothing here transfers ownership to me.

To run the service, I need your permission to store and show your content back to you. So you grant Manicured a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display your content for the purpose of operating Manicured. For private content, that means showing it to you and nobody else.

When you choose to make a Mani Card public, that license extends to displaying it on Manicured’s public surfaces — the Discover feed, your public profile, its shareable link, and possibly the Manicured homepage — and to letting other people see, save, and share that link. It also covers the image files Manicured generates when you export a card.

This license exists only to run the product. It ends for any piece of content when you delete it or make it private, apart from copies other people already made or links they already have (see section 5). Your photos are never used to train AI models, and your content is never sold or licensed to anyone else.

You’re responsible for the content you upload: you confirm you have the right to post it, and that posting it doesn’t break the law or someone else’s rights. The Community Guidelines set out what is and isn’t allowed.

5. Public sharing — what it actually means

Every Mani Card is private when you create it. Making one public is a separate, deliberate action on that specific card.

When a Mani Card is public, these become visible to anyone:

• its photos, title, and the “About this mani” caption;
• your application notes and your full polish recipe;
• its color, manicure type, finish, style, and mood or occasion tags;
• the date you published it;
• your handle and display name.

Your journal notes are never published. They stay private on every card, public or not — this is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the interface.

Separately from cards, your profile — handle, display name, and bio — is publicly visible whether or not you have ever made a card public. Please don’t put anything in your bio you wouldn’t want a stranger to read.

You can make a public card private again at any time, and it will disappear from Manicured’s public surfaces right away. But once something has been public, you can’t recall it: other people may have saved it, screenshotted it, or shared the link. Image links issued shortly before you unpublish may also keep working for up to about an hour. Please share with that in mind.

Manicured lets people create their own card inspired by a public one (“Make your version”). That copies the recipe details as a starting point for their own card — it doesn’t copy your photos, your notes, or your journal.

6. How you may use Manicured

Use it for its purpose: keeping and sharing a record of your manicures. Please don’t:

• break the Community Guidelines;
• scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy other people’s content;
• use bots, scripts, or automated tools against the service, or try to get around rate limits, plan limits, or access controls;
• probe, break, or interfere with the security of Manicured or its infrastructure, or access data that isn’t yours;
• resell, sublicense, or repackage Manicured or access to it;
• upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights.

7. Plans and payment

Manicured is free to start. A free account can keep a set number of Mani Cards — you can always see your count and the free plan limit in Settings. Subscribing gives you unlimited Mani Cards.

• Price. The price and billing period are shown to you at checkout, before you pay. You’ll never be charged an amount you haven’t seen first.
• Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. Manicured never sees or stores your card number — that stays with Stripe. Your use of Stripe’s checkout is also subject to Stripe’s own terms.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• Cancelling. You can cancel any time from Settings → Manage billing. You keep unlimited Mani Cards through the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
• Refunds. Payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods. If something has genuinely gone wrong, email me — I’ll look at it, and I can issue a refund at my discretion.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it over roughly two weeks and email you about it. Your access continues in full during that time. If it can’t be collected, the subscription ends and your account returns to the free plan.
• Price changes. If the price changes, I’ll post notice on Manicured before it affects you, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
• Taxes. Any applicable taxes are your responsibility, and will be shown at checkout where they apply.

8. If your subscription ends

This part matters, so it’s spelled out plainly. Nothing you made is deleted, hidden, or made private when a subscription ends. There is no code path that could do that.

If your archive is larger than the free plan limit when your subscription ends, your cards stay exactly where they are and you can still:

• view every card you’ve made;
• export them as images;
• change whether they’re public or private;
• delete any of them.

What pauses is editing — you can’t change a card’s content, and you can’t create new ones, until you’re back within the free plan limit or subscribe again. Deleting cards down to the limit restores editing immediately. So does resubscribing.

If your archive already fits within the free plan limit, nothing changes at all — you simply stay on the free plan.

9. Removing content and accounts

I can remove a Mani Card from Manicured’s public surfaces if it breaks these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or if I’m legally required to. When that happens, the card and everything in it stays in your own account — removal takes it off the public surfaces, it doesn’t destroy your content.

For serious or repeated violations, or where the law requires it, I may suspend or end an account.

Manicured is small enough that there is no formal appeals process right now. If you think a removal was a mistake, email me and I’ll take an honest look.

10. Ending your side of this

You can stop using Manicured at any time. You can delete individual Mani Cards yourself, which also deletes their photos.

Deleting your whole account isn’t a button in the product yet. Until it is, email me and I’ll delete your account and its contents for you. The Privacy Policy describes what that covers.

11. Manicured’s own material

The Manicured name, the ladybug mark, the design of the site and the Mani Card, and the software behind them belong to me. These Terms don’t give you a license to use them, beyond using the service normally. Exported Mani Card images carry a small “Made with Manicured” credit; please leave it there when you share them.

12. Availability and changes to the service

Manicured is a new and small product, built and run by one person. It may change, features may be added or removed, and it may be unavailable at times — for maintenance, or because something broke.

I’ll make reasonable efforts to keep your content safe and available, but please don’t treat Manicured as the only copy of anything you can’t bear to lose. Mani Cards that have recipe details on them can be exported as images from the app, and I can send you a copy of your data if you ask.

Manicured depends on other companies to run — Google for sign-in, Stripe for payments, and hosting and database providers. Interruptions in their services can interrupt Manicured, and their handling of your information is covered in the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers

Manicured is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content will be preserved without loss.

Content on Manicured — including polish recipes, application notes, and anything else people share — is posted by users. It isn’t advice, and it isn’t medical advice. Nail products and techniques carry real risks. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and talk to a doctor or a licensed nail professional about anything affecting your health.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Manicured and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost content, arising from your use of the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for any claim relating to Manicured is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Manicured in the 12 months before the claim, or fifty US dollars ($50).

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

15. Your responsibility for what you post

If someone brings a claim against Manicured because of content you posted or because you broke these Terms or the Community Guidelines, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result, to the extent the law allows.

16. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may change as Manicured grows. When they do, the “last updated” date at the top changes, and material changes will be noted on Manicured itself. Manicured doesn’t send email, so there won’t be an email notification — please check back here from time to time. Continuing to use Manicured after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t, you can stop using Manicured and cancel your subscription.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and we each consent to those courts.

Before filing anything, please email me and give me 30 days to sort it out. Most problems are a misunderstanding, and I’d much rather fix it than litigate it.

18. Everything else

• If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• Not enforcing a provision right away doesn’t waive it later.
• You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. I may transfer mine if Manicured is ever acquired or reorganized.
• These Terms, plus the Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Manicured.
